So Godawfulpoetry Fortnight is back for 2009. Details about it can be found here. Go read.
When it was announced, I’d decided to do a mashup of pop lyrics from my carefree youth. So, this is my one and only entry to this Fortnight made up of bits and pieces from Backstreet Boys, Boyzone, N’Sync, the Spice Girls, Avril Lavigne (I cheated a bit with this one, I guess), and some others. Enjoy, if you want to.
Where have you been?
A mulatto. I love you. Quit playing games
with my words. We said we’d keep in touch.
I’m just a little old-fashioned, not
a facsimile. Eyes of stone, I’m a Barbiegirl as long as you love me. Life’s like
an albino, not fooling anyone. It’s all
been done before. But you’re asking me
“To feel the things you never show, can a manstay dignified?” I’ll tell you what I want.
To laugh out, strike a pose, come over unannounced,
a mosquito dashing through the snow; I must confess
I’m not that easy. Is it enough to love?It must be easy for you, you bend and lift
your open hand, kiss me and lead me out
like a guiding star. In the cold November rain,
My libido is love turned to stress.
